Enemy seeks to dominate Iran by eroding religious values: cleric

A senior Iranian cleric has warned that the enemy's strategy to dominate Iran hinges on weakening the nation's religious values and distancing the people from their ideals.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a ceremony honoring Arbaeen procession organizers in the central province of Isfahan, Hojatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad-Baqer Tabatabainejad said recognizing the enemy's plots and objectives is a sign of rationality, warning that negligence toward hostile strategies could inadvertently push individuals toward fulfilling the enemy's goals.

The cleric reflected on the life of Lady Zainab (PBUH), describing her as a paragon of rationality who remained devoted to God despite the immense suffering of Karbala and the ensuing captivity.

He noted that while some measure wealth, property, fame, or social media followers as assets, Imam Ali (PBUH) regarded the intellect as humanity's greatest capital.

The scholar stressed that intellect is not merely a matter of literacy, memory, or academic degrees, but the ability to distinguish truth from falsehood and the path to salvation from that of misery — a force that guides humans through the most difficult circumstances and seditions.

Knowing God as the first sign of intellect

Tabatabainejad identified the knowledge of God as the first sign of a rational person, saying a wise individual knows that the Creator did not create humanity without purpose and must therefore recognize God and the purpose of creation.

Citing a Quranic verse on the superiority of divine blessings and the rewards of the hereafter, he said the afterlife is both more beautiful and more enduring than the worldly life, and a rational person does not trade lasting, valuable goods for fleeting worldly possessions.

Enemy recognition prevents walking into enemy traps

The cleric named enemy recognition as the second sign of a rational person, warning that failing to identify the enemy and its objectives could lead individuals to unknowingly advance the enemy's agenda.

Referring to a 2002 speech by the martyred Leader of the Revolution in Sistan, he said the enemy seeks to weaken the Iranian people and distance them from their religious ideals and motivations as part of its strategy to dominate Iran.

He added that promoting immorality and steering society toward permissiveness is among the paths identified as capable of weakening religious motivation and diminishing the society's resilience. The fact that the goal of dominating Iran has not been realized, he said, shows the enemy's plan has failed.

Opportunity recognition leads to eternal salvation

Tabatabainejad identified opportunity recognition as the third sign of a rational person, saying a wise individual values every moment of life and uses the fleeting opportunities of the world to attain eternal salvation.

He described martyrdom in the path of God as a rational trade, citing the Quranic concept of trading with God, and noted that God purchases the lives and property of believers in exchange for Paradise.

He praised the Arbaeen procession organizers for their service to pilgrims of Imam Hussein (PBUH), describing their presence in the field of service and the holding of programs related to the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT) as part of making worthwhile use of life's opportunities.

Rational person views the world as a temporary abode

The cleric identified understanding the world's position as the fourth sign of a rational person, saying one must know that the world is not a permanent residence but a limited opportunity to move toward one's ultimate destination.

He illustrated this with the example of a person who travels to Karbala to visit Imam Hussein (PBUH) but spends all his time changing the curtains, carpets, furniture, and decor of his accommodation instead of using the opportunity for pilgrimage, despite his stay being limited and his main purpose being the visit.

Tabatabainejad said the world holds the same position, and the true loser is one who spends all his time and resources on a world that is not his permanent abode, remaining heedless of life's main purpose.
